ricostruzione
dei souk di beirut
beirut - 1994 -concorso internazionale - progetto selezionato
1)
Autonomy of components: The new plan identifies «urban islands»
with multiple functions. 2) Recognizability: Such «islands»
are conceived as systems characterized each by a different urban spatiality
and therefore easily recognizable and memorable. 3) Figurative interpretability:
by builders, inhabitants and visitors. The recognizability is intended
as a «structural» rather than a linguistic matter. 4) Flexibility:
The possibility of modifying in time, or of choosing at the moment of
purchase, the dimensional and functional characteristics of the spaces
has been considered a requirement logically connected to that of the figurative.interpretability.
5) FuncTional and typological integration: The autonomy of components
does not exclude-on the contrary, it promotes-various possibilities of
use. 6) Independance of road pattern: Full access for pedestrians, flexible
and modifiable access for vehicles, according to necessity. 7) Economy
and simplicity of construction: The realization, conceived in successive
stages, aims at a strong economization of the building process: all building
elements, apart from exceptional cases, should be as simplified as possible.
